Packing: Vegas Edition

Tomorrow my sister and I leave for our annual trip to Las Vegas.  I could literally go to Vegas once a month, but that's another extremely long blog post.  It's seriously been all I've been thinking about lately...

When packing for a trip like this I put much more detail in to it than an overnight or weekend getaway.  The shopping and planning has really been going on since I booked it back in February.  About a week before we leave I start setting things aside.  I use my spare bedroom to start making piles so I can keep everything organized and make sure I don't wear anything I want to pack.  If I purchase something new for the trip or wash something that I specifically want to pack I immediately put it in it's respective pile.  This ensures I avoid the last minute panic of what I'm going to wear, pack, etc.  (Although I still always have the last minute "I have nothing to wear" moment).  For this trip I need separate outfits for day and night. I like to keep it comfy with flowy dresses or jeans for day and fun dresses and rompers for night.  I also like to have a variety of shoes and crossbody bags to choose from. Flip flops are my go-to walking shoe for Spring/Summer, and I need the highest of heels for night.  Keeping it organized like this makes it easy to layer each pile in my suitcase and go.

Speaking of suitcases, I just purchased a new luggage set and carry on bag.  I was in major need of new luggage as I was down to just one tiny rolling suitcase for travel.  I find airlines are always quite hard on luggage and I myself am a bit hard on it trying to cram a weeks worth of clothes into a tiny case.  I try to buy luggage that has a bold print so it's easily recognizable at baggage claim.  I was drawn to the print and the price of this set.  It came with 5 pieces total, and for $76 shipped, I couldn't resist.  I don't spend a lot on luggage because every set I've ever had has been damaged due to excessive travel.  I also wanted a smaller carry on. I decided to purchase a Longchamp bag. While it doesn't have any pockets on the inside or outside, I find it has plenty of space for my plane necessities and the size is perfect. When going through airports, security, boarding a plane, etc, I found having a huge bag on my shoulder along with a purse and trying to fit it all under my seat became quite a chore. I really don't like putting bags in the overhead compartments because I like to have my things easily accessible.

When traveling to Vegas there are also a few items that I stock up on.  Bandaids are a must due to tons of walking.  Even with the most comfortable shoes I still find myself eventually needing to bandaid my feet by day 3. And unlike Alabama, Vegas is very very dry.  My hair much appreciates this while my skin, not so much.  Small size hand lotions are a must.  I find myself slathering it on often throughout the day.  I also throw in Advil and gum for good measure.
