Vegas Trip Recap

Hi!! I've been back from Vegas for almost a week now. I've been getting back in the groove of reality and finally have some time to recap my awesome trip.

View of the Strip flying in

My sister and I left out early Saturday morning, April 5th for 4 days in my favorite city, Las Vegas. After a quick layover in Dallas, we landed in Vegas right on time at 11:15.  We grabbed bags and were checked in the hotel just in time to grab a quick bite and beer before hitting the slots. We stayed at Harrah's. And while it's not my favorite hotel on the strip, it was a clean place to sleep for 4 nights and we had 2 nights comped, so it really was a no brainer. I also appreciate the centralized strip location of Harrah's.

I won't go day by day on what we did, but just hit a few highlights of restaurants, outfits, casinos we love, and a show review... This was the first trip we took to Vegas where we had zero plans minus Saturday night dinner. It was truly awesome and relaxing to not feel like we had to always be somewhere at any given time. Also, we were there during the ACM Awards, so Sunday we spent all day at MGM trying to see if we could spot any famous county singers, but it was a bust. Although, I did see Jamie Lynn Spears getting into her car heading to the red carpet, but wouldn't you know my phone froze just as I was about to snap a pic.

Restaurants:
My #1 fave this trip was Nobu at Caesar's Palace. Dinner highlights were the yellowtail jalapeno, black cod, and for dessert shaved ice, however, everything was fabulous.  And we had dinner at a table next to Taylor Hicks.  So semi-exciting since he's from Alabama.
Shaved Ice at Nobu

Sunday afternoon we grabbed a quick munchie at Sugar Factory at Paris.  Get the fried mac & cheese, trust me!!  We checked out the candy shop after and they had a place where you can create your own ice cream sandwiches for only $5, so I had to.  I chose red velvet cookies with vanilla bean ice cream.  Yum!!  Later that night we had a late night snack at MGM at Taps Sports Bar after more celeb stalking.  Fabulous place to watch any sporting event, and the pretzel bites were awesome as were the spicy fried green beans.

Monday morning we headed out for brunch at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.  I've been dying to try this place every time I've visited Vegas, so I made sure we had it on the agenda this trip.  We got a fab table outside and we both loved our food.  I had the croissant sandwich and my sister had the turkey and egg white omelet.  Both were so good as were our mimosas and bellinis.  If you go, definitely sit outside, amazing view and people watching.

Monday night we wanted to watch the NCAA Basketball tournament so we went back to MGM for dinner and also with hopes of seeing a few country singers that were there for the ACM Presents: Salute to our Troops.  No such luck on the sightings, but we did eat at a great restaurant.  Pub 1842 was perfect.  We had a nice booth with a great TV view.  I had the tomato soup with lobster grilled cheese.  Divine is all I can say.

Tuesday was our last day, so we made plans to see a show.  I will detail that in a bit.  After the show we had dinner at Olives at the Bellagio.  We had a nice seat where we had a view of the water show.  Food was fabulous.  Highly recommend the beef carpaccio appetizer.  Service was lovely, too.  Our waiter insisted he do a photo shoot of us in front of the water show.  So sweet!!

Favorite Casinos:
My sister and I only play slots, so really hard to detail too much here.  The place we did the best was The Quad. It's the old Imperial Palace.  The casino part has been completely re-done and it's really nice, but small.  I've heard the rooms haven't been updated from the old hotel and aren't so nice.  I also did well at MGM and Caesar's.

Winning at Caesar's

Our favorite ones to visit are Planet Hollywood, Bellagio, and Caesar's.  This is mainly for people watching and the vibe of the casino.

Outfits:

Day 1: Forever 21 necklace, top from Nordstrom Rack, Paige denim, Tory Burch flips, Rebecca Minkoff bag

Night 3: Forever 21 necklace, Young, Fabulous & Broke dress, Elliott Lucca bag

Show Review:
We had our heart set on seeing Britney Spears or Beatles Love, but neither were showing the weekend we were there.  After a recommendation and great review from my friend Shannon who lives in Vegas we decided to go see Jersey Boys at Paris.  It was so good.  I highly recommend it.  You will sing along the whole time.  A quick tip on buying tickets... We went to a Tickets 4 Tonight booth to try to get "cheaper" tickets. After waiting in line 20 minutes we found the tickets there were $25 more than on Vegas.com.  So glad we checked around.  We ended up with cheaper tickets and 5th row center seats.

Hope you enjoyed my recap.  It makes me ready to go back soon.  I hope to have some outfit posts up later this week and I have another trip coming up 2 weeks as well, so I'll be planning for that soon.  XOXO
