My Current Hair Routine

I get questions about my hair often, so I thought I'd share my current hair care routine. The 2 questions I get most often are "do you wear extensions?" and "how do you get it to grow so long?". No, I do not wear extensions nor have I ever worn them. This is all my natural hair. Second, I don't have any miracle secret for my hair growing. I don't even take any hair supplements or vitamins. But what I do think helps my hair growth is the fact that I only wash it twice a week and that I only get it cut maybe once or twice a year. I'm definitely not one of those that has a standing 6 weeks salon appointment. I always fear if I let them cut it too often, I'll end up butchered. I also know that not everyone can only wash their hair twice a week, but I've actually taught my hair to go 3-4 days with out a wash. It's actually better for your hair to not be washed daily, and training your hair to do it is not something that happens overnight. It took lots of ponytails and buns to get through those bad hair days. I have a lot of hair and to top that off it's naturally curly (not a pretty curl, more frizzy), so the idea of even having to dry it makes me cringe.

I don't have many products that I swear by when it comes to hair.  I'm always all about trying the latest and greatest styling products to see how my hair reacts.  However, the products above are on my current rotation and there are a few that I do re-purchase right now.  Hairspray is my bff, and these 2 are the best holding that I've found ever!!  But let me also say, I like a good holding hairspray.  Like my hair literally doesn't move, and these 2 are what I call my "hair glue".  The Aussie one is more like the glue.  I use it mainly to get the my long side bang to lay in place.  I use the Salon Grafix one for the body of my hair to hold curls, but it still gives a bit of movement.

The Paul Mitchell Hot of the Press is what I used once or twice a week when I curl my hair.  I don't have to re-curl it daily after using this product and I also like that it's protecting my hair from the heat of the iron.
This Aquage uplifting foam is seriously my secret to root volume (outside of a teasing comb).  I can totally tell a difference when I don't use it.

The dry shampoo is definitely the secret to 3rd and 4th day hair if you tend to have greasy roots.  If you are trying to get in the habit of not washing your hair daily, dry shampoo is your new bff.

On the days I do wash my hair, I often wash it at night to avoid the need to dry it.  That's where this leave-in conditioner comes in.  Although I do condition my hair in the shower, I find if I plan let my hair air dry a leave-in conditioner helps it be less of a frizzy mess the next morning.

I don't currently have a shampoo or conditioner that I swear by, nor have I ever.  I just always purchase whatever is on sale or cheap at the store.  Right now I'm using Pantene.  I figure if I only wash it twice a week, spending a lot on shampoo and conditioner is a bit of a waste for me.

When I dry my hair, I swear by the Chi dryer.  I've had mine forever!!

I also love my Chi flat iron.  I rarely wear my hair straight, but it really comes in handy styling my side bang if it's giving me a fit.

This Conair curling iron is a new purchase.  It's seriously the best curling iron I've had in a while.  My hair holds curl easily any way, but with this the curls last for days.
